12 Tags of Christmas #5 – Funkie Junkie Style

I’m back with tag #5 for Linda’s Funkie Junkie Christmas Tag Challenge of 2017! The challenge is sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique and there’s still time for you to join in on the challenge. You can find the rules on Linda’s blog.

Linda’s week #5 tag inspired me to focus on Santa Claus, wood, and the new postage stamps from Tim Holtz. So, that was a lot of stuff to fit on a tag. I was trying to figure out a cute way to use the Tim Holtz wood slices but was not having a lot of success – I know I’ll come up with something! As I mixed up some cranberry-walnut bread (it’s still in the “rising” stage…) I thought to myself about making a billboard of sorts about Santa.

I looked back on some of my old tags and decided to use the techniques from Tim Holtz on his shadowpress and making tiles out of the ephemera. I tried to find as much as I could that related to Santa including a compass pointing to the North Pole, using the new Tim Holtz postage stamps set, a new remnant rub, and the papers from the new Tim Holtz Paper Stash (Christmas). Again, I found extra bits of foliage on my craft table and added those along with some small antique bells from the Funkie Junkie.

For me this tag has a bit of a Christmases-past feel about it. A little bit of childhood nostalgia about Santa and all of the memories of Christmas including writing out and mailing my wish list. The tinsel – it’s an ode to the early Christmas trees that my mom decorated that had all of that draping tinsel that our puppy dog swished her tag into and then dragged it all around the house.

On that note, I hope everyone has a lovely, festive weekend!

What a charming array of ephemera and postage symbols. I love every piece on here (I'm a big fan of both). Love the gold embossed Shadowpress too. Another great entry into the 12 Tags challenge.

Hugs, Linda
