Summer Garden and Let the Words Do the Talking – Take #2

I was fiddling around with the “plastic bag” inking technique and decided to make a second tag this weekend.   Over the last couple of weeks I’ve seen postings on various blogs using this technique so I decided to try it.  It’s way too warm here today to go outside and play so I tucked into my craft room, window open, fan on high, and started. Happy Birthday! Boy Oh Boy!

Happy Birthday to me!  And, Happy Birthday to Simon Says Stamp!  I love my birthday and this weekend my beloved let me have fun playing around in my craft room with some of the new things he got me.  I woke up Sunday morning, the day before my birthday, and started to play around with my new mica powders and inks.  I created what would become the background of this tag using the mica powder, water, snowflake paste, and distress paint.  While it was drying I went for a run (good thing too because the weather turned by noon and was a bit grim all afternoon) and while I was out running ideas started to float around in my head.   I was thinking about boy stuff for the Frilly & Funkie Challenge and when I came home I found the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge this week was Happy Birthday!  I decided to see if I could do both challenges! Food and/or Drink Challenge with Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

After several wintry days (one of which involved a normal 20 minute drive home from work turning into a 2+ hour driving extravaganza in blizzard conditions), Easter Sunday was a bright, beautiful, blue sky day.  It was warm enough and sunny enough to melt the snow off the branches of the bushes and trees that started to show the early signs of spring.  As I peeked out into my garden late this morning, I notice my rhubarb poking up out of the snow.  My garden beds are starting to show signs of being ready for their spring/summer soil turnover.  My ornamental grasses as starting to sprout and my hostas and hops in the backyard are peeking through the soil.  Spring is slowly springing here. A layered leap into the unknown

I was feeling rather productive this weekend.  I worked on some scrapbook pages (I have a forty page spread that is nearing completion…finally), the daffodil tag, and finding places for all of the new stuff that has been arriving each day!  Out of all of that I found some time to try a new technique – paper mosaic.  I purchased the Tim Holtz kit when it came out and I put it with all of my other texture stuff.  The brand new box right on the edge of the shelf next to texture paste, crackle paint, embossing paste, and multi-medium matte among others.  I even watched the videos and how-to’s on Tim Holtz’s blog.  After several months, today was the day I decided to use it. Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge -- Inspired By A Song (February 2016)

The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge this week was a challenge!  The challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp.  The theme this week was to be inspired by a song.  My first thought was – not happening.  I don’t listen to much on the radio as I prefer quiet when I work and when I craft.  So I tried to think of a song that had something visual enough to inspire me.   After a long week at work, I woke up on Saturday and tried to come up with something.  My beloved suggested a couple of songs and we settled on “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square.”  […]

Simon Says Stamp -- Recycle/Upcycle Challenge (February, 2016)

Earlier this week I was at home for President's Day.  My last three day weekend until Memorial Day.  I was a bit under the weather, battling issues with my blog (long story but I'll be transitioning off of LiveJournal next week to a new blog site), and cleaning up the mess in my craft room from the weekend.  I figured since it was Monday there would be a new challenge on the Simon Says Stamp blog.  The challenge for this week is Recycle/Upcycle. A Box of Chocolate Truffles for My Valentine (February, 2016)

Yesterday, while out for a walk I pondered what else could I do as a Valentine's tag?  I felt like I had maximized as much as I could for Valentine's Day.  But, there was one more tag I needed -- a tag for my Valentine.  Something to go with the box of truffles he was going to get on Sunday.  Saturday and early this morning I worked on my Box of Truffles for my beloved and my tag. A lot of spraying and spritzing went on for this tag. […]

Simon Says Stamp -- Spritz and Spray Challenge #3 (February, 2016)

Well, I've had a bit of a productive weekend!  I had fun working on the Spritz and Spray Challenge on the Simon Says Monday Challenge Blog.   As I have a three day weekend due to President's Day I had some extra time and ink on my hands this weekend!  I made one last tag tonight -- the idea came to me when my beloved and I went for a walk around the neighborhood. […]
