Several weeks ago, Linda announced on her blog this year's 12 tags of Christmas. The challenge is sponsored by Linda's boutique the Funkie Junkie Boutique. This is my first Christmas tag challenge only having started in this area of papercrafting in March of this year. I started working on it each week but only recently was able to get a blog up and running! So, here's the first of the 12 tags of Christmas.
I was inspired by Linda's tag to find a way to utilize a poinsetta. After several versions (different paper colors, Tim Holtz fabrics, and different textures with stencials) this is the finished product. I found some cricut cuts to achieve the leaves, spruce, and pine needles. I added some glittered twigs, small pine cones, and red berries. The poinsetta is a Tim Holtz Sizzix die created with burlap and crinoline (which was dyed with Tim Holtz ink) with the center being one of the embellishments from Tim Holtz's Christmas releases for 2015. I finished it off with a small cardinal bird. The base tag (tag size #8) is embossed with a Tim Holtz embossing folder. This tag took a bit of time to find the right look but I enjoyed making it and it's one of my favorite tags so far! I think next time I might add some snow. I chose not to edge the leaves because I wanted to keep some of the vibrant greens.
