Tag #8 was a bit delayed as I had planned on working on it and #9 during the Thanksgiving weekend but other duties called. Today was all about catch-up! When I first saw Tag #8 I was worried about what I could make of it. Ideas floated around in my head but nothing that I quite felt right. This morning I woke up and said to myself -- "what does this tag remind me of?" The answer -- those ribbon wreaths that people make with ribbon or paper for various holidays throughout the year. Linda's tag used the flags at the top and so that was the part of it that inspired me to create this tag.
Linda's blog has all of the information on the 12 tags of Christmas challenge and the challenge is sponsored by her store -- the Funkie Junkie Boutique.
The base of this standard size #8 tag is balsa wood. I had a piece of it tucked away in the closet of my craft room and thought maybe it might work for this tag. I cut it out and stained it using vintage photo and swipes walnut Distress stains. I then covered it with the spray pearl to give it a bit of a shiny appearance and not something so flat. Out of scrap paper from the Tim Holtz Christmas paper pad I cut out the flags. There was no rhyme or reason to the lengths of the flags. I attached them to some green wire using the tiny attacher. Once I created the "wreath" I used the Tim Holtz boxwood twine to create an inner ring of the wreath to give it a bit more depth. I added two small pinecones that I purchased from the Funkie Junkie Boutique and a Petaloo flower. I cut out one of the tag plates from the Tim Holtz paper pad and used the "Merry Christmas" stamp from the most recent Tim Holtz stamps. The Merry Christmas was embossed with Wendy Vechhi's fern green embossing powder.
