So, I'm on tag #9 for the 12 tags of Christmas sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique! The information about the challenge can be found on Linda's blog.
As with tag #8, tag #9 was a bit delayed. Other duties have called over the last week or so and while Thanksgiving weekend was the perfect time for me to play around in my craft room it turnout that a weekend crafting was not quite in the cards. So, this weekend was catch-up and this morning after finishing tag #8 I found my way to creating tag #9.
Linda's tag included the new Starbucks Christmas cup using the Tim Holtz die cut. While Starbucks has received some unflattering press about this year's cup design, Linda did a great job with it! Since I don't drink coffee I was inspired to create a tag that incorporated a hot drink and the holidays. My version is Tag #9.
Tag #9 started with a standard #8 tag. I edged the tag with Tim Holtz paper from this year's Christmas paper pad. I also took some red core'dinations paper and embossed it using the Tim Holtz embossing folder. I sandanded it down and then inked over it with Tim Holtz's distress ink Gathered Twigs. I used the Tim Holtz tea cup die cut for the tea cup and plate. A versa mark pen was used to ink the edge of the cup and dish so I could create the gold rimmed feel of an old china tea cup using gold embossing powder. I also used a Tim Holtz Christmas stamp to create the tea cup pattern stamped it in olive green archival ink and using clear embossing powder to give it a bit of depth. I used Tea Dye Distress Ink to dull down the off white paper used for the tea cup die cut. Red jewels were used to create the holly berries. I added a little tea bag and the Tim Holtz spoon embellishment (now I have to figure out what was to with the knife and fork!). I found a wooden embellishment for the "steam" and painted it in White Picket Fence Distress Paint. I topped off my cup of holiday tea with some peeled paint ribbon and green jingle bells. I sure hope the photo does it justice because it's one of my favorite tags! I even added a touch of glitter on the spoon as if it were some leftover sugar!
