Hello! Sorry it’s been a little bit since my last project but sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day to get it all done. I was able to spend a little bit of time in my craft room tonight while my beloved was making dinner. I was able to skip out of work right at 5 p.m. to head home for a run – I absolutely love that we have a bit of extra daylight in the evenings. It truly is a sign that spring is on its way! Not to mention the crocus’ have bloomed and the daffodils are starting to make their appearances. It all seems a little early this year.
The current challenge on the Frilly and Funkie blog is entitled “Welcome, Spring” and seeking project for us to usher in the new season that’s upon us. For some reason I decided to choose some very muted, natural colors for this challenge. I played around with a new stamp, some old stamps, some new flowers, some lovely paper I found in my paper stash, and finished it off with some metal embellishments. The challenge is generously sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique.
As I’ve mentioned in a couple of my previous posts, I’m also adding this project to my “Book of Months” for March. I liked the colors of the paper, the flowers, and really liked the quote that I added at the bottom from one of my new stamps – remember the moments in between.
I started off with the main paper and added some stamps in archival inks off to the sides of where the papers in the middle of the page would be. I was trying to tie in the ferns and writing images that were on the top and bottom corner of the paper. I then built everything around it. I decided to keep the layout very simple even though I did grab some mini art stones and other goodies that I initially thought that I would add. In the end, though I left all of it off as there was just something that kept me coming back to keeping spring simple. I did ink the edges of everything to give it a bit of a worn look but not completely distressed.
I hope you enjoy this project and I hope everyone enjoys those extra hours of daylight! Soon it will be time to start playing in the garden.

16-Mar-17 3:15 AMThis is glorious! Every detail from the soft stamped background to the perfectly layered bits and pieces. It's so harmonious and peaceful and beautiful....like sitting on a stump in the woods waiting for spring to burst forth. Just magical! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at the Frilly and Funkie "Welcome Spring" Challenge
