Super Bowl Sunday, early February, and time to work on Tim's tag! This tag involved another Valentine's Day theme so here's hoping Cupid likes it!
The Remix this month for Tim involved the Mono Print Technique and the Embossing with Texture Paste Technique. When I started, I wasn't sure what I would do or how it would turn out and I just followed my heart. As with last month, two new techniques for me to try. I had a couple of not-so-pretty backgrounds during my first couple of tries at the monoprint. I tried a couple of different stencils and colors and ultimately decided on this version.
Happy Valentine's Day!!
The process for the tag is after the photo.
I started with a #8 manila tag. I covered it with Spun Sugar Distress Stain. I then used the Valentine (#33) stencil and used the monoprint technique. The color on the stencil was Victorian Velvet Distress Ink. Next I decided to single out some of the words on the stencil using the texture paste with embossing powder. I used Ranger's texture paste and immediately covered it in Ranger's Red TInsel Embossing Powder. I let it dry.
As the stenciled part was drying, I worked on my photo. I found the photo in the Tim Holtz photobooth collection. I colored her sweater in Picked Raspberry Distress pen. I browned up her hair using the Brushed Corduroy Distress pen. I also used the Mowed Lawn Distress pen to lighten up the background of the photo. I distressed the edges and bent the corners. I used the Brushed Corduroy pen to knock down some of the white.
Next I made the ticket. I stamped the ticket image onto an off-white cardstock. The stamp is from the Love Struck #82 stamp set. I masked it so I could get the two colors. I first stamped the image in Versa Mark and used Ranger's Black embossing powder for the main part of the ticket. Next, I masked the stamped image to leave just the "love" and "14." I stamped the images and used Ranger's Red Tinsel embossing powder. I lightly distressed the ticket and colored the ticket and edges with Tea Dye Distress Ink.
Next, I stamped the heart from the Love Struck stamp set (#82). I stamped the image with Versa Mark on to paper color #25 from the Kraft-Core collection (Tim Holtz Classic Collection). I embossed the image with Ranger's Enchanted Gold embossing powder. I cut the stamped image out.
At this point, the texture paste was dry so I "embossed" it. I used the Cupid stamp from Love Struck #82 and stamped the image on to the tag using Wendy Vecchi's Red Geranium Archival Ink.
I made a bow from May Arts Gold Curly Ribbon. Grabbed a pink mulberry paper flower from Wild Orchid crafts. I grabbed the typed token and arrow adornment. I wrapped a piece of the ribbon on the arrow and attached it. I then put the pieces for the tag together. The curly ribbon took a lot of glue.
I finished off the tag with a Candied Apple Distress Ink colored ribbon.
