12 Tags of Christmas – Funkie Junkie Style (Week #2)

Hello! I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I’m sure that everyone has started to experience the cooler temperatures and changing colors of autumn. I spent a day of my weekend tackling 26.2 miles on foot across Chicago. I made it. I might have not looked pretty doing it but I got it done. Thank you to Chicago and all of the spectators, in particular my own cheering squad, for cheering me on!!!

I arrived home and was able to spend only a few precious hours in my craft room before I had to head back to work. I did manage to work on the second tag for Linda’s 12 tags of Christmas – Funkie Junkie Style. The challenge is generously sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique. There is still time for you to give a try at the 12 tags of Christmas Challenge. You can check out all of the rules at the Funkie Junkie blog.

My tag is inspired by Linda’s use of wood and trees. For some reason it reminded me of the trees we had in our yard as a kid. And, when I was a kid, living in a forest, the trees didn’t have lights because the extension cord you would have to run from the house to the road needed to be way too long so instead we decorated them with Christmas stuff like tinsel garland and plastic ornaments. For the tag I took out the snowflake paste again to create the piles of snow we used to get, Barq wood paper for a woody background (found at the Funkie Junkie Boutique), and my archival inks (so my snow wouldn’t turn green).

So, here’s an ode to my childhood Christmas tree by the road. Nothing too fancy but festive all the same.
