12 Tags of Christmas – Funkie Junkie Style (Week #3)

’Tis the season for colds – nothing like an autumn cold to start it all off right? Despite a couple of naps this weekend, lots of hot honey and lemon, and several boxes of tissues I was able to spend a little bit of time in my craft room. And, I worked on Week #3 of the 12 Tags of Christmas – Funkie Junkie style. The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique. Linda’s blog has all of the rules and there is still time to join in the challenge!

Linda’s tag for this week reminded me of the various birds, greenery, and music of the season. I chose a background that has phrases from Christmas songs. I then cut and die cut various greenery pieces with the idea that we are looking at one side of a wreath (that’s why it doesn’t line up with the exact edge of the tag). To add some texture I used some linen textured paper and smooth cardstock. I found some ribbon that I used on the garlands I put up in the house at the holidays, trimmed it down to add some gold, grabbed some extra pine cones I had from a previous project (the muffin tin), and added some touches of red using the metallique acrylic paint on the small art pebbles. I stamped and die cut my cardinal and browned the edges. After much debating, I decided to leave everything matte – so I didn’t add snow, didn’t add mica sprays, or anything that would compete with the metallique ribbon. Keeping it matte seemed more weathered and vintage to me.

I hope tag #3 inspires you too! I think it’s going to be one of my favorites – even though I’m only one quarter of the way through the challenge….now to check what Linda has in store for us in Week #4.

I hope your days are merry and bright and, hopefully, without a cold!

Wow, your wreath is exquisite, really beautiful. Beautiful collection of "greens". And I like that you left everything matte. It really does make the gold mesh ribbon such a nice focal point. The pine cones look great too. At first, I thought they were clumps of berries until I read your supply list. I really like the look they add. So great to have you playing along again for week #3. Can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve.

Hope you are over your cold. I have been down all week with something similar and still haven't turned the corner.

Thanks so much for playing along!

Hugs, Linda
