New Year’s Inspiration & Be Square

The first challenge project of the year is a bit of inspiration in a square and fits two challenges – New Year’s Inspiration for the Frilly & Funkie Challenge which is generously sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique and Be Square for the Monday Simon Says Stamp Challenge which is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp.

As the New Year approached, I looked ahead to what my year would bring for me and also what I wanted to do for the year. In my non-art world it will be a tough, busy year and I promised myself that I would remember to continue to think outside of the box for issues that surface and that no matter what happens I have to remember to stay the course and be true to who I am as a person. In my art-world I’m inspired to keep being creative and pass what I learn on to them and others but also to keep my eyes open to the world around me for inspiration in my projects. No matter what happens I have to remember that nothing is perfect so just enjoy life. All of the quotes are inspirational and applicable to all aspects of my life.

As I write this blog post, I’m at a scrapbooking/art retreat with a group of really interesting, creative friends who watched as this project came together over the last two days. We have a lovely setting in the middle of a pine forest and we are here waiting for the snow to move in overnight. There is a roaring fire going in the fireplace to keep us warm. Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been helping create page layouts, gift bags, and prize bags for each of us. As they were all working on scrapbook pages, I pulled out the headless Barbie to create the dress form. As dress form and dress pieces were drying, I worked on putting the canvas together.

All the time they were wondering how it was all going to come together which was great because it inspired them do step outside of their norm on their scrapbook pages.

I hope everyone made a safe, happy transition to 2017. Stay curious, be creative, and use your imagination – here’s to a great year!
