Where I grew up the night sky was a wonder. I live far enough from the city that the night sky was full of stars. It was beautiful. It was dark too. I hated it when my dad would forget to pick up the newspaper or the mail and I would have to run down the driveway to get it and run back hoping that the coyotes yelping in the distance weren’t coming to get me! Once safely at home I would sit on the step and just look up and see if I could make out the constellations or sometimes create my own. And, every once in a while I would catch a falling star and make a wish!
To make this tag for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge I had to use some lucky stars. The challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. While the wallpaper at my childhood some wasn’t like the background of my tag I chose to go with a more “seasoned” home. One with windows and woodwork around it and something that resembled wallpaper so that it gave the effect that you were on the inside looking out. I tried something new this weekend – Ken Oliver Color Bursts to make the background for my sky. Oh my my hands were a midnight shade of blue!! I learned a bit on the way while experimenting with the color bursts – a little goes a long way.
I hope that my tag does some justice to the times when I sit and look at the stars, marvel that my dad can determine where he is by them (he’s an old Navy guy and one that learned to follow the stars), awed at their beauty, and dream.
The recipe for this tag follows the photo.
For this tag I used the following items:
