I didn’t think I was going to be able to get this challenge done. That is, until my flight got cancelled. Play day in my craft room instead of working!! The challenge for the Frilly & Funkie Challenge was in honor of Earth Day. It’s Not Easy Being Green challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique. […]
READ MOREAfter a long week at work, Friday evening and Saturday were a creative break. No challenges, no scrapbook pages, no reorganizing the craft room this weekend because about a month ago I signed up for 3 classes at my local scrapbooking store. It was part of my birthday present from my beloved. So, off I went to class late afternoon on Friday…and what a hoot of a time I had over the next 36 hours! The class was taught by the Ice Prince, John Creighton Peterson, from Imagine Crafts, Ice Resin, Authentique, and Prima. I spent hours playing with Staz-On Inks, Black Gesso, and Ice Resin. I learned a ton of new techniques and dabbled a bit more in the mica powders and acrylic paints and mica powders offered by Finnabair. We spent time with different texture pastes and stencils including the Graphite texture paste. And, to be able to make my own texture paste using the new Finnabair texture paste and mix it with the acrylic paints was awesome! The colors in the acrylic paints are stunning and to be able to make it into a texture paste just opens up more doors of possibility! […]
READ MOREThis weekend the weather was very wintry despite it being springtime. Lots of wind, snow, and cold. Thursday was a beautiful high 60’s and Friday started the downturn. By Saturday it was full on winter. As the clouds started to clear today I decided to work on my tag for Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2016 – Tech Remix. Last weekend I played around a bit with the new woodgrain cardstock – it’s a lot of fun (that tag can be seen here)! Several weeks ago, I completed my first ever paper collage with the Distress Paper Mosaic Kit (that tag can be viewed here). Today’s tag is a combination of the two. I stayed with Tim Holtz’s version with a few minor changes and color choices. I would have loved to added some stitching but since I don’t have a sewing machine I opted not to since I wouldn’t be able to get the finer detail I wanted. […]
READ MOREHere is another entry for the Frilly and Funkie Challenge – Boy oh boy! The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique. At first I had no idea what I was going to do. I thought about it all week and decided to just let it go. Some days the canvas just goes blank. Lucky for me some of my birthday stuff arrived early and my beloved just let me play around with my new goodies in my craft room this weekend. Yesterday I went through all of my new inks. Today, I woke up and just started to futz around with the mica powders to see what I could do with them. Here is tag #2 for Boy oh boy. […]
READ MOREHappy Birthday to me! And, Happy Birthday to Simon Says Stamp! I love my birthday and this weekend my beloved let me have fun playing around in my craft room with some of the new things he got me. I woke up Sunday morning, the day before my birthday, and started to play around with my new mica powders and inks. I created what would become the background of this tag using the mica powder, water, snowflake paste, and distress paint. While it was drying I went for a run (good thing too because the weather turned by noon and was a bit grim all afternoon) and while I was out running ideas started to float around in my head. I was thinking about boy stuff for the Frilly & Funkie Challenge and when I came home I found the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge this week was Happy Birthday! I decided to see if I could do both challenges! […]
READ MOREHip to Be Square – 60’s version. Although I think the song “Hip to be Square” is a little more my era! The latest challenge on The Frilly & Funkie Blog (which is generously sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique) calls for squares to appear on the project and to use bright colors, textures, looks, or other things from the 60’s or early 70’s. Having looked at some old photos from the family album I had a little bit of an idea of what I needed to go for in this challenge. The 60’s seem to have lots of large collars, funky patterns, flowers, earthy stuff, and colors. […]
