Yea!!! I’ve met the half-way point!! I’m working my way through the 12 Tags of Christmas – Funkie Junkie Style. The challenge is sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique and there is still time for you to get going, get caught up, and finish the challenge! Despite finishing my tag for Week #6 , it also means I don’t have a lot of time to get my Christmas shopping done either… […]
READ MOREFinally, I’ve managed to get something together for the Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas – Week #5! When it’s 70 degrees outside it’s a bit hard to get motivated to work on a Christmas tag but I did it! You can still join in on the 12 Tags of Christmas challenge. All of the challenge rules on the Funkie Junkie Blog. Hopefully my tag will inspire you to join in the fun! The challenge is generously sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique. […]

READ MOREHello! Autumn has finally arrived here – we think! Traditionally Halloween is cold and the weather is a bit dicey but this year it was warm and windy. However, the wind brought in a cold front and so we may actually start having days that are not in the high 70’s. Over this past weekend I treated myself to an art weekend with some friends. We had a lovely park-like setting where we were, wonderful food, great weather, and lots of fun. We were visited by deer, wild turkeys, and big horn sheep throughout the weekend as they wandered down to the conference center where we were. So, while I was there I decided to make an autumn project since it was time to pack away the Halloween stuff. So, I decided to make a fall window. I think my finished project works for the current challenge on the Anything But Cute challenge #18 – An Autumn Day. […]
READ MOREHappy Halloween to everyone! Even though it’s the end of October, I’ve already picked out the ribbons for my Christmas garlands and I’m planning the colors for my tree. This week I worked on my latest Funkie Junkie style tag for the 12 Tags of Christmas. The challenge is generously sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique. There is still time for you to enter the challenge! I’m trying not to get behind and after I finished this tag, I pulled out stuff for week #5’s tag! But I got a bit behind for a reason… […]
READ MOREOh the trees are frightfully bare! My gardens are all cleaned out, the dirt turned over ready for spring, and the containers all packed away in the garage. The only thing left outside that’s green is the lawn but even that will soon lose its color as we head into the deep autumn despite still enjoying 70 degree days. As October comes to a close and after I manage to get in some extra calorie burning by raking up all of the leaves from the neighbors’ trees, I pulled together one more Halloween project before I put aside the ghosts, jack-o-lanterns, and bones to work on some projects for Thanksgiving and then Christmas. The current challenge on the Frilly & Funkie Blog is A Very Vintage Halloween. The challenge is generously sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique. […]
READ MORE’Tis the season for colds – nothing like an autumn cold to start it all off right? Despite a couple of naps this weekend, lots of hot honey and lemon, and several boxes of tissues I was able to spend a little bit of time in my craft room. And, I worked on Week #3 of the 12 Tags of Christmas – Funkie Junkie style. The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique. Linda’s blog has all of the rules and there is still time to join in the challenge! […]
READ MOREHappy October! The leaves here have all turned yellow and red. The height of the aspen changing is finished and the furnace has started to come on when we get those cooler mornings. As we head toward Halloween, the tag for this month’s Tim Holtz Tech Remix Challenge involves using the Distress Collage Medium (Crazing) and the Sizzix Mask Thinlits. I really liked working with the crazing collage medium – its texture and effect are pretty fun to work with especially with the Distress Crayons. I chose the Zombie Thinlit for this month’s tag. And, as zombies love to eat brains, I figured I would go with it! […]
READ MOREHello! I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I’m sure that everyone has started to experience the cooler temperatures and changing colors of autumn. I spent a day of my weekend tackling 26.2 miles on foot across Chicago. I made it. I might have not looked pretty doing it but I got it done. Thank you to Chicago and all of the spectators, in particular my own cheering squad, for cheering me on!!! […]
READ MOREHello! I am thrilled to have been asked to be a guest designer on the Frilly & Funkie blog! The challenge for the next two weeks is “Author, Author” and challenges us to develop a vintage or shabby chic project that is inspired by a book. I am an avid (and fast) reader. As an English major I delve into books looking for the hidden meaning of things and the hints from the author that foreshadows the end of the story. And, I am still a bit old fashioned when it comes to my books – I want paper. There is something about being able to pick up a book and turn the pages and not have to worry if I plugged it in to recharge! I know that I am not alone! This challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique. […]
