I’m back with Tag #4 from Linda’s 12 Tags of Christmas. The challenge is sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique. For this tag, I swung a bit toward tartan. I was inspired by Linda’s tag to use a silhouette and the idea of going to a concert, the theatre, or a show. […]
READ MOREPhew – what a weekend! I managed to spend some time in my craft room trying to get things organized (I’m still dealing with the leftovers of the move…). This weekend I wound up with an “extra hour” to do stuff and I managed to bake a pie (apple and cranberry with from-scratch pastry), make a pumpkin-pecan quick bread, go for a long run, and a tag! Okay, so that was a bit more than a hour but the extra hour helped. […]
READ MOREToday was a rather windy day here so I stayed inside and worked on the second tag for Linda’s Funkie Junkie Christmas Tag Challenge. While I’m four, soon to be five, tags behind Linda graciously lets us submit tags until the whole challenge closes. You can find all of the rules for the challenge on Linda’s Blog. So hopefully I will be able to get caught up! The challenge is sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique. […]
READ MOREHello! Okay, so I’m about six weeks behind on Linda’s Christmas Tag challenge. Nothing like starting halfway through – right? I decided that I needed to get my Christmas hat on and get into gear for the holidays. While I love Thanksgiving, I know that in order to be ready for Christmas I need to get moving! So last night I came home, went for a run with the pup, and then straight to my craft room while my beloved was making dinner. As he called me to dinner, I was just finishing up my first tag for the Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas. […]
READ MOREHappy almost Halloween to everyone! The days are definitely shorter, the nights are noticeably cooler, and there is snow in the forecast for later this week. Right on track for Halloween….nothing like freezing temperatures and snow for trick or treating. <sigh> […]
READ MOREHappy Autumn! We suddenly ended summer and drifted quickly into Autumn around here. We've had a bit of a drop in temperatures last weekend, a beautiful-bordering-on-late-summer week, and then this weekend we had another drop in temperatures. It was cool enough that the heater kicked on for a little bit. The past couple of days have seen the trees quickly start their autumn shades and once the clouds clear we might just see a bit of snow on the mountains!
I love Autumn - the house gets decorated with the beautiful colors of the season, the jackets start to come out of the closets, and the gardens all have to be turned over in preparation for next year. This year is a bit different as I have a new house to decorate, I'm still trying to find my jackets, and the gardens are all being re-designed. Nothing like a new challenge, right?
Speaking of challenges - the challenge for the Frilly and Funkie blog is To Everything There is a Season. The challenge wants us to use the colors and images of Autumn. The challenge is sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique. For this challenge, I was inspired by the fact that we do quite a bit of traveling during autumn so when we come home the stack of mail is something that must be tackled quickly. I also was inspired with "mail" and the mailbox when I found this mail box at my local craft store. […]
Hello! I hope that everyone has started to ease into autumn. The trees are already starting to turn here and while it is a slow turn of color on a branch here and there, I’m ready for autumn’s cooler nights and crisper days. Autumn is my favorite time of year – the deep, rich colors; the beginning of regular baking going on in the kitchen; and decorating the house. There is always something about the comforting smell of an apple pie in the oven and the first set of cranberries arriving! […]
READ MOREHello! Happy Christmas in July! Although I seriously felt like the next time I would be in my craft room was sometime in December, I made it! While I’m not yet at full steam, I am starting to get back into the swing of things and finally this weekend I “found” my craft room. To be honest I found the room and only some of my stuff. Over the past several months my craft room has been stacked, piled, bagged, boxed, upended, moved, and sorted. After 20+ years in the same house, we moved to a new neighborhood. Our new ’hood is close to where we were but, at times, feels like miles away. I loved our “old house” but we now have a bit more room and a new view! Moving always involves many cogs in the wheels and we’ve been a bit of a construction zone in our new house. Today I finally said “stuff it” and started to work at my craft table despite a million other things I needed to get done for work and a ton of boxes to unpack. Needless to say, there were plenty of times were I just stood there and said “where did I see that….” or “where did I put that?” […]
READ MOREHello! Today I’m sending a quick blog post to let you know that I haven’t given up on my projects! As life would have it, I have to move my entire craft room and then put it all back together. Things are just a mess and despite being organized, I’m not sure I could actually find anything I needed! So, please bear with me as I make this transition and I promise there will be more projects soon. […]
READ MOREHello! Today’s blog post is my guest designer post on the Frilly & Funkie Challenge Blog where the challenge is “Put Your Inking Caps On!” The challenge asks us to not use any patterned papers. So, I decided to create a canvas. I have several photos in the blog post with the pictures for most of the process. […]
